CO2 Killers: Energy project
JUNE 2010
Eco Project - 6 Modigliani pick up their level 2 sustainable learning award!!

On Wednesday 26th May, 6 Modigliani were lucky enough to visit Montem primary school where they were able to take part in lots of energy saving activities (and collect free energy saving light bulbs!). Whilst they were there the children were in charge of teaching children at montem how to be more energy conscious and how to save water. 3 children from our class gave a superb presentation (in front of the Mayor of Slough!) and our school was awarded the level 2 sustainable learning accreditation for their efforts with saving energy and water around the school. Well done!!

On Friday 11th June, Fiona Mctaggart (our local MP) will be coming to visit 6 Modigliani. They will be lucky enough to ask her questions about being an MP but more importantly, plans to help not only our local schools, but also local area become more eco-friendly.
MAY 2010
The Beginning
Over the last term (term 5), 6 Modigliani have been involved in a school's energy education project with Atkins to help the school improve the management of its energy and water usage. The class have been busy writing letters to governors and staff, creating slideshows, displays and assemblies, spying on the other classes and making resources to go on our school website. The children also launched their own energy poster competition - well done to all those children that entered.
The winners were:
- Christine (Jazz)
- Pradushan (5 Classical)
- James G (3 Vivaldi)
- Mollie T (4 Hockney)
They were lucky enough to receive their very own wind-up energy saving penguin torch!
A big well done to the runners up too:
- Kayleigh (6 Goldsworthy)
- Laura C and Rona J (6 Henry-Moore)
- Arub A (5 Calypso)
- Robi (Jazz)
- Vinoth (3 Vivaldi)
- Reema (4 Picasso)
The children's hard work has paid off and they have already gained the level 1 accreditation for the school, which is really impressive. 6 Modigliani are lucky enough to be invited to Montem Primary School on Wednesday 26th May to be awarded the Level 2 certificate and to take part in various energy saving activities as well as sharing their own work with other schools who have taken part in the project. I know the children will have a great day and will be a credit to the school. We will post some photos onto the website for you to see!
